My artwork has always been my sounding board, providing me opportunities to examine, evolve, and justify my opinions, and how I define myself as a young woman in our ever-changing society. My process involves the use of acrylic paints, printmaking techniques, and collage from disparate sources. Relationships are construed with each medium, synthesizing a balance of colors and layers through the process of improvisation and reconsideration. I exploit this medley to reveal a story, or sometimes, an assemblage of stories, that illustrate two central themes, women’s perceived lives both past and present, as well as the beautiful, yet unforgiving hand of nature.
Interestingly, both Mother Nature and Human Nature possess a propensity for hiding mistakes, with a profound eagerness to expose worthwhile attributes. These hidden features, through careful investigation, can be uncovered and identified. Nature hides by means of forest cover, decay, and isolation, while people execute their covert techniques in similar fashion. Read more... |
